It’s easy to obtain your prescription. You may still have a prescription card from a previous appointment or, alternatively, can also contact your optometrist/eye specialist who will have a record of your prescription. Please make sure that your prescription card contains all relevant information such as strength, cylinder, axis and pupillary distance. If you need a new prescription you can get an eye test done free of charge in selected VIU stores, at one of our partner opticians or with any other optician.

Yes, we also offer reading glasses. If you want to buy reading glasses choose 'Prescription glasses' and add the model to your shopping cart. You will be given the option to upload your prescription before completing the purchase.

Yes. We also offer sunglasses with corrective lenses for high dioptres, and naturally with cylinder for astigmatism as well. Please note that special centring measurements are required for strengths from +/-4dpt or for a corneal curvature greater than -2dpt. These measurements can only be carried out in our stores or by our partner opticians. Simply visit us in your nearest VIU store.

Founded in Winter 2012/2013 in Switzerland and expanded in the beginning of 2015 to Germany, the VIU management team consists of 3 members, each bringing different and complementary experiences and skills to the table: Fabrice Aeberhard studied Industrial Design at Zürcher Hochschule der Künste (ZHdK) before starting his own design studio Aekae (2006-2015). With many years of experience in product and interior design, he’s now responsible for the product-, store- and brand design. Kilian Wagner and Peter Käser complete the team from the managerial perspective. Both alumni of the University of St. Gallen (HSG), Kilian and Peter are responsible for the strategic and operative management.

VIU glasses are designed in Zurich and hand-made in Italy. The manufacturing process comprises of more than 80 steps, many of which carried out by hand. Despite the higher production cost in Italy compared to Far East, we are happy and proud to produce our products in a place with a long tradition and where the craft of manufacturing glasses is passed on from generation to generation. Partnering with one of the most renowned manufacturers in Japan, the VIU titanium collection is hand-crafted to perfection in more than 200 manual steps. Based on Polyamide-powder, the frames of the archetypes collection are ultralight, highly resistant and absolutely sustainable with zero waste manufacturing.

Eye tests are offered in selected VIU stores. An overview of the stores in which we are offering eye tests can be found on our store overview page. In order for our opticians to prepare for your eye test, we kindly ask you to book an appointment in advance. Please consider the directions in your confirmation email before your eye test.

Usually, the eye test takes around 20 minutes. Overall, we recommend you to plan in about 30 minutes for your visit in our flagship store.

We are eager to offer an eye test in all of our flagship stores. Unfortunately, we’re not able to do so in all stores yet. You can check whether it’s possible to take an eye test at your preferred store on our store overview or directly while scheduling.
